During this course I feel that I have fine tuned my ability to appraise best practices and clinical judgement to develop evidence-based nursing plan of care for management of acute and chronic diseases across the lifespan and healthcare continuum. I feel that by exploring a variety of complex case studies, such as COPD exacerbation, peptic ulcer disease, cerebrovascular accidents (CVAs), and colon cancer, I have gained insight into how to individualized care plans that address not only the physical needs of patients but also their psychological, social, and environmental factors. The holistic approach is important in caring for the patient. Emphasis on EBP has reminded me of the importance of staying up to date with clinical guidelines, research findings, and interdisciplinary team roles and planning. Moving forward I will strive to apply the skills that I have obtained in this class. I believe that by applying the skills I have learned I can more effectively assess and educate patients with chronic illnesses. I will also be more proactive in engaging with the interdisciplinary team, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive care that addresses all their needs. I believe that after completing this course I will focus more on educating patients and their families to help them take control of their lives and advocate for themselves when it comes to the care that they receive.
#2
This course has deepened my understanding of how risk factors and causes influence the progression of diseases, like Alzheimer’s, and how diagnostic tests play a critical role in early detection and treatment planning. I’ve also gained insight into ethical considerations, such as patient autonomy, and the importance of health promotion across different stages of life. These concepts will help me have a better approach to patient care holistically, focusing on both prevention and management.
In my future practice, I will apply these principles by integrating risk factor assessments, ethical decision-making, and evidence-based prevention strategies to provide comprehensive care for both acute and chronic diseases.
