Develop an argument about a particular social responsibility issue that a company is currently grappling with.
As the video above discusses, once you enter your source information in your annotated bibliography (making sure it’s in MLA 9th edition style), you will write a brief paragraph for each source that answers the following three questions:
1. How do I know the source is reliable? (assessment)
2. What is the source about? (summary)
3. How do I plan to use this source? (evidence)
Now that you have selected a company that is currently experiencing a social responsibility issue and taken a careful look at the way in which the company presents itself on its website, it is time to research the social responsibility issue that company is facing.
Using the SMC library database, you should look for the sources that provide perspectives on the following:
the company
the company and the social responsibility issue it is facing
the social responsibility issue in general/in other contexts (including how competitors are dealing with it)
Type an annotated bibliography for Essay 2 in current MLA style that includes the following information:
1. complete source information including title, publication information, and date in current MLA style (also called 9th edition MLA style)
2. one paragraph for each source that includes:
–an assessment of the source’s reliability
–a brief summary of the source’s central idea
–an explanation of how you plan to use the source, including relevant evidence
This week, your annotated bibliography should include at least 5 sources, with one paragraph of explanation per source. One of those sources should be the website from the company that you are focusing upon. The rest should be reputable sources that you found on your own using the library database. Those sources should provide perspectives on the social responsibility issue your company is facing. If you wish to use one of the TED talks or articles from Unit 2, you may include one of those as well.
