The Primary Source Response assignment is intended to help you create historical arguments using specific evidence from course materials (course outcome 1) and analyze different historical trends in United States (CO 2, 4) through the lens of Revolutionary America. This assignment will require you to employ the interrelated skills of inquiry, critical analysis, and effective communication (CO 5) as you identify, analyze, and explain historical forces for both change and continuity in American society (CO 3).
This assignment supports the acquisition of all five learning objectives for this module:
Explain how different social, cultural, and ethnic groups fought to gain and/or retain a place in American society
Identify elements of the market revolution and analyze its economic, political, social, and cultural impact
Identify and explain the causes, goals, and significance of prominent mid-century religious and social reform movements
Analyze the specific ways in which slavery shaped U.S. politics, sectional and class identities, territorial expansion, and economic development
Analyze how territorial expansion factored into U.S. politics, reform movements, and the economy

The attached document contains a number of historical documents (primary sources). Respond to the questions at the end of each source. Each source represents a different perspective on the “Age of Reform, (Roughly 1830-1850)” so you must answer every question for all of the sources.
Your analysis should provide historical context. Each question requires about a paragraph to answer. This means that you will write a minimum of six paragraphs (approximately 1.5 pages) for this assignment.
