Research question: How does food quality affect population growth in Tribolium confusum?
I need help writing my background information for my lab report. I just need a second paragraph about the research question and it must include a primary or secondary source that are reliable.
So far I have: Food is an essential part of life. It is one of the main factors that provide nutrients and helps sustain organisms throughout life and live to reproduce. Lower nutrition levels in diets cause higher risk of disease and lower p and in diets cause higher risk of disease and lower p and lower life expectancy (A Abajobir, et al., 2016). It is understood that non-nutritious foods can affect the health of organisms. However, it is questioned on how food quality affects a population as a whole.Tribolium confusum, also known as a flour beetle, is a species that can be commonly found in shelf stored products in grocery stores. According to Kavallieratos et al., (2020), they are known to infest grains or flour and are generally found in places like bakeries and warehouses etc. Tribolium Confusum are known to have fast reproduction rates because they are a kind of insect. Due to their compact size and easy cultivation in the lab, the beetles will be used to observe population growth over a short period of time. In our case, the population of the beetles will either decline or increase depending on if the food source is desirable and can help them thrive successfully.
