Assignment: Career Action Plan Continued
The following Course Outcome is assessed in this assignment.
CS126-5: Prepare for professional success using career resources and career action planning.
You began this assignment in Unit 9 and after adding 2 or 3 slides, you will submit this presentation now in Unit 10.
You will apply what you have learned about values, skills, and goals setting to make a career action plan in Microsoft® PowerPoint® format.
Career Action Plan- You began this in Unit 9.
Refer to the values, skills, and goals sections of your IDP and take some time to think seriously about where you would like to be in your future career and how you will get there. Once you have generated some ideas, create a career action plan in PowerPoint format in which you specifically focus on all of the following (before you begin, note that all of your goals must be SMART goals):
Provide a title slide for your presentation (Slide 1).
Provide a long-term career goal (Slide 2): Your career goal should be a goal that you can realistically accomplish in approximately 2–7 years. Please keep in mind that this must be a career goal, not an academic or personal goal.
Insert your current skills — My Present
Refer to the skills section of your IDP. Explain where you are right now in terms of your career progress. What current strengths and weaknesses can you identify? What current skills and experiences do you have that make you stand out? This question is important because it will help you to establish a clear picture of your current skills, experiences, and areas for improvement as well. You will want to make sure to reflect upon recent course readings, discussions, and activities that have helped you to recognize your strengths, weaknesses, interests, and abilities.
Break your goals down into short and long term — My Future
Make sure that you delineate how the long-term objectives are reached by breaking them down into short-term goals of 1 month to 2 years per the IDP, and long-term goals from 2 to 7 years as shown in the IDP . Note the connections between the goals.
Provide the strategy and process — My Path
Describe your strategy for success by explaining the route you will take to move from point A (my present), to point B (progress towards achieving goals), to point C (achievement of short-term goals), and all the way to point D (achievement of long-term goals). Make sure to also identify at least two specific career resources from the Unit 9 reading that you might make use of as you are working towards achieving your career goal and explain why these resources will be helpful.
Provide your action plan — My Actions
What are some of the steps or actions you will need to complete to get your desired outcome (minimum three steps/actions)? Make sure to include a projected completion date for each step/action. Include a mix of short-term and long-term action items/completion dates.
Now in Unit 10:
You will prepare a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 14 slides, including the title slide, for submission in Unit 10 Assignment.
Academic Goals – Add at least two academic goals to your action plan presentation and explain how you will achieve these goals.
Value Alignment – Explain how at least three values that you inserted in your IDP are aligned with your goals as shown in your action plan.
Make sure to save this presentation for the MT297 course which is your Capstone course for the small group management degree program.
