I have one semester to introduce you to the topic of criminal justice. Unfortuna
I have one semester to introduce you to the topic of criminal justice. Unfortunately, there are aspects of criminal justice that we simply do not have enough time to cover in class. In the last section of your textbook (“Special Issues”), there are chapters on drugs (Chapter 16), terrorism (Chapter 17), and high-technology crimes (Chapter 18). You are to select one of these topics/chapters, read that chapter, and prepare a reaction paper.

Your reaction paper IS NOT A SUMMARY of the chapter. Do not just tell me what the chapter says. I already know what they all say. Instead, you should focus on a few of the topics presented in the chapter and provide a critical reaction to the ideas presented in that chapter. Some examples for ways to approach this are: What did you find to be the most interesting aspects of the chapter? Least interesting aspects of the chapter? Did anything in the chapter surprise you and why? Can you think of any cases (in the national news or locally) that apply to the material in your chapter? How does the material in your chapter relate to other disciplines than criminal justice? Would you be interested in taking a class that covers the topic in-depth and why?
Your papers should be typed in Times New Roman (12 pt.) font with 1-inch margins and double-spaced throughout. Each assignment should include an APA style title page (see APA Title Page Setup Guide.pdf Download APA Title Page Setup Guide.pdf), which is not included in the overall page count.
Begin the body of your paper by centering the title of the assignment on the first line, then double-space and start typing your paper. The body of your reaction paper should be a minimum of two full pages in length and can go up to three pages (excluding the title page). A “full page” means to the very bottom of the page, not half of the page, not three-quarters of the page, not “almost to the bottom of the page.” Before submission, make sure to review your paper for any spelling and grammatical issues.
This assignment is worth 15 points of your overall grade and must be submitted through the Assignments tab on Canvas as a Word document (Canvas does not always accept other file formats) by the start of class on Wednesday, October 2nd. When you submit through Canvas, your submission will be run through Turnitin to check for plagiarism issues. NO LATE PAPERS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
