Part 1 the Week 5 Discussion, you explore several ways of working with resource personnel to support literacy. Reflect on your experiences in the field placement about ways support staff (e.g., paraprofessionals, reading specialists, classroom volunteers, etc.) promote children in the area of literacy. Review the Week 5 Learning Resources regarding collaboration and support staff. BY DAY 3 Post about the following: Share practices you have observed in the field setting, insights you have gained, and questions you have related to the effective use of support staff. Describe an effective way to direct the work of support staff without having them instruct but rather support literacy instruction. Explain how support staff can be used to provide opportunities for gifted and talented students. Explain how support staff can be used in an online environment. Describe one strategy or best practice for effectively communicating with support staff. Describe one challenge of working with support staff. —————————-////////—————————— Part2 Watch the Engineering Virtual Field Experience and reflect on the topics listed on the Virtual Field Experience Template. Note on this sheet how effective practice and the integration of technology can be used to increase student interest and learning. You will use the Virtual Field Experience and template in Major Assessment 6, completed during Week 6 of this course. Participate in the Hour of Code exercise (Coding with Anna and Elsa) or watch an elementary age child participate in the Hour of Code. Consider how this type of career readiness can be incorporated into the classroom to prepare students for their future. After watching the video respond to the following prompts by Day 3 of Week 5: What evidence of effective practice did you find in the virtual field experience? How did the use of technology promote problem solving skills and critical thinking? Compare the use of technology in the video, Hour of Code, with what you have seen in your field experience classroom. Do your students have the same opportunities to apply problem solving and critical thinking skills? If so, provide some examples of what you have seen. If not, provide an example of how you would improve the student experience with the use of technology. How does the active engagement of students and the level of communication increase student success?
