The three assignments are linked, focusing on the same assigned reading from you

The three assignments are linked, focusing on the same assigned reading from your text (your choice of which one), with the documented essay submitted first, then the synthesis essay, then the oral presentation.  You will choose a selection from your readings that you can “link” to a modern work—perhaps a book, a movie, an episode from a television series, a music vide….even a video game.  You will develop a concept that is presented in both works for the synthesis essay but submit straight-forward research on the assigned reading in your documented essay. More information is provided through Blackboard and the PowerPoint linked in Google Drive. Documented Researched EssayAfter deciding upon your synthesis essay topic, compose a researched two-page essay using two works of literary criticism from the Literature Resource Center or textbooks from the LRC.  This essay is RELATED to your synthesis essay in that it should be a researched/documented essay dealing with the assigned reading that you chose but does not deal with the contemporary work.  In essence, it is research work preliminary to your synthesis essay. For this essay, approach it as you would any other literary analysis.  Focus upon ONE aspect of the assigned work that you are researching.  You might deal with the historical significance of the piece, the symbolism in the piece, significance of the author’s life to the work in question,…..This essay will be at least 500 words with incorporated material from the two works of literary criticism and material from the work covered.  You will have three entries on the Works Cited page.  These entries will be in correct MLA 8 format, and the essay itself will employ internal citation in the form of parenthetical citations and/or running attributions.  Please incorporate documented material into each body paragraph.  You will use brief quotes from your sources (and from the reading in your textbook).  Employ running attributions to introduce quotes and present your authors with credentials. Please use the provided file as your “template” for the assignment.  It is formatted in the correct style and explains how to prepare the essay.
