This research paper aims to help you engage with Indigenous artistic expressions

This research paper aims to help you engage with Indigenous artistic expressions and contemporary challenges concerning Indigenous people in Canada. You should be able to interpret a piece created by an Indigenous artist concerning the historical and cultural aspects of the colonial experiences we have been learning about throughout the course.
You will choose an Indigenous artist’s piece and explore the connections. It would be best if you began research by reading ahead through the units that offer the most directly relevant background for your choosen topic. You must also move beyond the course material and seek current/recent primary or secondary resources to present further context and information about your topic.
The research paper will be assessed the student’s ability to use information from the articles, films, and scholarly internet research to provide context for understanding the chosen topic.
I think it would be best if you explored the piece created by your chosen Indigenous Artist – describe the medium and convey to the reader the meaning behind the work as stated by yourself, art critics, and the artist themselves. Compare that to the historical and cultural aspects of the topic being explored in the piece.
