Use the sources that are in the attached annotated bibliography.
This assessment is used to determine if you have successfully completed the following learning objective: Begin the drafting process, drawing on the research you conducted for the annotated bibliography.
For this draft, you must write your thesis statement and 5 paragraphs. Do NOT include your Introduction or Conclusion. These paragraphs are difficult to write, and it is often best to save them for the end. Instead, look at how you’ve profiled the issue and decide what you want to write on first. Consider choosing a couple paragraphs that may be easy to write (defining the issue, supporting an easy claim), and a few that are more difficult to write (solutions, opposing views, etc.).
You don’t have a word count for this draft, so don’t worry about it. Granted, the more you write now, the more you have to work with later, but you don’t have a minimum word target to aim for. Just 5 paragraphs and a thesis.
I will grade this draft on the following criteria:
Thesis (is it arguable? concise?)
Topic Sentences (do they make a clear and relevant claim? Do they announce the topic and purpose of the paragraph?)
Supporting Sentences (do the sentences within each paragraph remain focused on the task put forth by the topic sentence?)
Integrating Sources (do you use a blend of summary, paraphrase, and direct quotes?
In-Text Citations (are all sources properly cited?)
