Topic Selection – Career or Personal Goal Assignment selection.
Q. Which topic do I have to select for my paper?
A. Use the attached template provided in week 3.
Your topic selection depends on your major and what you want to do after you graduate:
Career Goal Track:
1- Which major/degree are you pursuing at the university? Example: Early Childhood Education
2- What career are you trying to pursue when you graduate and why? (This is the career goal track.)
Example: When I graduate, I want to become an early childhood education Teacher
Personal Goal Track:
Are you seeking advancement in the job you have now (for those who have jobs in their fields) and why? This is the personal goal track.
Example: I am already an early childhood education teacher, and I am pursuing my early childhood education major to become a headteacher either in the school I am working at or another school.
Prompt: In a 1-2 page paper, excluding the title page and the references list, select your topic for your research paper. Make sure your topic selection is relevant to the career goal track option or personal goal track option. In your choice of your topic, talk about how you will manage your time to get it done by referencing tips from the reading in week 3 course content such as “SMART Goals Handout,” “O*NET Career – Job vs Career,” and “Time Management for Online Students.”
Tip: Before you complete this assignment, read the “IDS Career or Personal Motivation Tips”, which is attached. This handout is going to help you with connecting your motivation to your career or personal goal topic selection. It is also going to help you connect with creating your outline for the following week.
