(2) discuss a personal connection you have with the author’s core value(s) or experience (3) explain why your core value is important to you and how it developed Sample Initial Post In her essay, “We Are All Stardust,” Kimberly Woodberry shares her core values of spirituality and interconnection. I found Woodberry’s essay interesting in that she expresses both our reliance on the divine and on each other as human beings. This idea really resonates with me because one of my core values is faith—not so much a spiritual faith, but a belief in myself. Unlike Woodberry, I never had a reliance on others because for most of my growing-up years, I was left to fend for myself and take care of my little brother while my mother struggled with addiction. This core value developed because I had the mindset that if something needed to get done, I would have to do it. I made sure my brother had clean clothes and breakfast before he went off to school. I did the grocery shopping, made sure the bills got paid, and cleaned the house. I maintained good grades in school and always believed I would go to college one day even when others doubted me. Because I had faith in myself, I never gave up, and this has made all the difference in my life.
