This literature review should include an exploration of five or more scholarly sources (e.g., journal articles, book chapters, etc.) that delve into the topic of the selected Grand Rounds and should not include the readings provided by the instructor. The selected Grand Rounds Seminar for this paper is titled “A Data-Driven Approach to Parenting” by Dr. Emily Oster. It can be found towards the bottom of the website and is under the section Grand Rounds Archive. It is from February 16th and the link to the video is here on the website: https://med.nyu.edu/departments-institutes/child-adolescent-psychiatry/education/grand-rounds
The referenced sources should not include social media, websites, TED talks, and so forth, although these sources may be worth viewing because they can lead you back to the scientific research studies upon which these popular sources may be based. Useful databases might include Medline or PsycInfo. Your literature review will involve: (1) Searching for relevant research in your topic area; (2) reading through these sources and evaluating whether or not they will add to your understanding of the topic area; (3) identifying themes and gaps in the literature; and (4) writing up your findings. Your paper should begin by stating the subject area of interest, questions and ideas that the Grand Rounds presentation brought to mind for you, followed by an exploration of your scholarly sources and how they help to address your questions, expand your ideas, and lead to other possible questions and ideas.
