Assignment Structure The following outlines what you should present in your answer to show your understanding of the area. Title • It’s important – put a little thought into it! Abstract – 5% The abstract is a summary of your entire research. It concisely reports the aims and findings of your research and is generally around 150-300 words long, or no more than one page. Write the abstract last after completing the rest of the research. Introduction – 15% Establish your research topic: • Introduce the broad topic in an engaging way. • Provide relevant background information to contextualise your work. Narrow down the focus: • Go into more detail about the specific area you’ll be focusing on. • Define the scope of the research. Discuss existing research: • Briefly discuss the current state of knowledge on your topic. • Show your work’s relevance to a broader problem or debate. Research objectives: • Describe your concrete objectives in conducting the research. Discussion – 50% • The research process uncovers what other writers have written about your topic. • The review and discussion should contain the most pertinent studies and point to important past and current research and practices in the field. • This should provide the core of the report a description (summary) of the area. What are the major issues involved in the area /? How do these apply? • It should be a critical evaluation of the topic. • Create sections that are divided into sub-themes/topics as required. • For example, Customer Experience Management, Customer Relationships, Customer Experience Management Challenges, Customer Experience Management Technologies… P a g e 4 | 4 Findings and Conclusions – 20% Demonstrate what you have reviewed and discovered. Highlight where the area is “going”/ future. Outstanding issues, challenges, unresolved questions, unknowns etc. What recommendation(s) you would make? Research Quality – 10% Marks allocated to Analysis, Synthesis and Evaluation of research papers. Includes sources of research, peer review, academic credibility, referencing, using Harvard style etc. References (not included in wordcount) • A list of the key references which support your research • A list of all works referred to in your work.
