The Washington Post article “Women, stop worrying about being Liked – Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s Advice for Living Boldly,” which was written by Nora Krug and published in 2017, explores Adichie’s ideas about feminism and about raising children. Adichie argues that parents should raise their children to value gender equality. Think about your experience growing up. If you are a parent, think about the way you are raising your own child (or children). If you are not a parent, think about young people in your life (nieces, nephews, younger siblings, etc.) What are some possible effects of raising children to value gender equality? Write about two effects of teaching children to respect gender equality. (As a reminder, in class, we discussed effects on the psychological well-being of children, effects on families, and effects on future generations.)
