Module 1, Discussion: Fortune Magazine Video of the Most Admired Companies to Work for
DISCUSSION
Introduction
The purpose of this discussion is to apply the knowledge you have gained from Chapters 1 and 2 to an existing company and its management of talent and organizational strategy.
You will focus on the most admired companies to work for as designated by Fortune magazine and their partner Great Place to Work. Together they have been publishing this list for 25 years.
1. Review the List of Best Companies to Work ForLinks to an external site.
2. Choose a company from the list and do some research on what makes them “great” and additional information about the company. This should be a quick research that adds more understanding about what makes this company a great place to work. Do enough research to have more than just one perspective and make sure the sources are part of the discussion board post (in-text and references listed).
3. Consider these writing prompts as you develop your discussion board post:
What did you notice about the company you chose to discuss in this discussion board as it relates to organizational behavior?
Discuss three characteristics of this company that align with what was presented the module readings and lecture. Instructions
Choose any one of the companies mentioned from the list.
Engage in some research about the company not exposed in the brief paragraph within the list.
Identify additional ways this company has achieved a competitive advantage through managing talent and being intentional about multiculturalism (diversity).
Post a response that is well-developed and answers the discussion questions presented. Your response should indicate a clear understanding of organizational behavior and its importance in building an effective organization. Please see the grading rubric for more details on the expectations of your response to this discussion question.
Read through your fellow classmates’ posts and reply to two (2) of them with thoughtful responses that extend or challenge their ideas.
Posts and responses should be thorough and thoughtful. Simply posting an “I agree” or “Good idea” will not be considered adequate. Support your statements with examples, experiences, or references. Be brief – limit each post and response to one or two short paragraphs. Remember that fellow learners will be reading and responding to you too.
Give credit to sources when necessary within the post and a reference at the bottom of the post.
