Objective: To understand a current political issue and prepare for voting; resea

Objective: To understand a current political issue and prepare for voting; research one of the listed issues in the current American political climate.
Issues: Abortion, LGBTQ+ rights, Immigration, Climate Change, Entitlement program spending(Social Security, Medicaid/Medicare, etc.), Foreign Aid, or Environmental Protection. Request to pickanother broad national not listed will be considered but must be requested and approved (by email) before February 1, 2024.
Instructions:
Research: Start by researching the issues to determine which you view as the most important t the 2024 election cycle.
Case Study: Pick one of the listed issues after understanding the basics of each listed issue. Research, summarize, and understand current American policy (laws) for the issue. Research the positions of the two primary national parties (Democrats and Republicans) and summarize the positions with references and citations to valid and relevant sources (not social media) to support your summary. Review national political polls (polls not affiliated with a specific interest or party) and summarize the views of voting and if available non-voting public. Make sure you cite all sources.
Analysis and Positioning: Analyze the issue and indicate and support your position on the correct policy for America on the issue. Explain in detail why you support that position and why the other position(s) is wrong for Americans. Provide details and support for how it should be implemented (key provisions to implement the policy.) Support your position with at least three specific reasons. Relate how your position is in line with the fundamental ideals and theories of American Democracy reviewed in this course (such as The Common Good, Equality for all, Protection of Property, Justice, etc.)
Presentation: Write a report (1000 to 1500 words) presenting your findings and reflections. Support your analysis with evidence from reliable sources. Be sure to properly cite (using MLA format) for both the in-text and the Works Cited page
Evaluation: You will be graded on your research, analysis, critical thinking, and presentation skills. Be sure to cite (use MLA format) and cite all sources used.
