Formatting Rules: You must follow formatting rules as discussed in class, including: Courier Font 12 point font Top, bottom, and right margins – 1 inch Left margin – 1 ½ inch No more than four lines of action per paragraph The script must be 2-3 pages (no shorter than 2 full pages, no longer than 3 pages). Story Rules: Story must have a beginning, middle, and end. (Aim for the main tenants of the three-act structure: Incident > Complication > Resolution.) Story must include at least three full lines of dialogue. Lines of dialogue can be non-consecutive. You must have at least two scene headings (different locations). No sexual content or nudity (kissing is fine). Note: If you have applied to the College of Motion Picture Arts previously, you are NOT allowed to reuse or repurpose the screenplay you wrote for the application. Characters: Your story must have a protagonist The first mention of your character should include the following: Name in ALL CAPS. Age. Short description. DO NOT use Microsoft Word, Pages, Notes, etc. For additional insight, refer to thescriptlabLinks to an external site., which has many recent screenplays available for download. Delivery: You must submit a DIGITAL COPY of this assignment to Canvas. The file must be a PDF that includes a TITLE PAGE with your NAME, SECTION #, and SCRIPT TITLE. Late Assignments: For the Rough Draft, failure to submit the assignment by the due date means you cannot participate in the Peer Feedback assignment and may not receive feedback on your draft. For the Final Draft, a late assignment will have a FULL letter grade deducted from the total score the first day the assignment is late, and 1/3 of a letter grade for any subsequent days. In other words, an “A quality” project that is a day late would receive a “B.” The same project that is two days late would receive a “B-.” Plagiarism While this is an “open-book” assignment, you are still expected to work independently on writing this assignment. (It is fine to discuss/share ideas and to give feedback to peers on drafts.) If your work is found to be plagiarized from another source or written by generative AI, you will receive a 0 on the assignment. Plagiarism is a violation of FSU’s Academic Honor Policy, quoted below. The Florida State University Academic Honor Policy outlines the University’s expectations for the integrity of students’ academic work, the procedures for resolving alleged violations of those expectations, and the rights and responsibilities of students and faculty members throughout the process. Students are responsible for reading this Academic Honor Policy and for living up to their pledge to “…be honest and truthful and…[to] strive for personal and institutional integrity at Florida State University.” (FSU Academic Honor Policy, found at http://fda.fsu.edu/Academics/Academic-Honor-Policy.)
