Due on Nexus by end of day (11:59 PM) on Monday, April 15.
Assignment Weight: 30% of final grade.
Assignment Criteria:
Secondary sources: You must use at least one secondary or research source in your essay to help support your argument. That means there should be minimum two entries on your works cited page (the primary source you are writing about, and your secondary research source).
As we will discuss in the coming weeks, the most reliable secondary sources are articles from scholarly journals and published books. Other sources should be used with caution and cleared with your professor if possible. Online “study aid” websites like “SparkNotes” and “LitCharts” will not be accepted.
Works Cited page: an MLA formatted Works Cited page should be included at the end of your essay.
Thesis statements: Whichever topic your prof assigns, remember that you must come up with a specific thesis statement that makes a comment on that topic.
Direct quotations: Essays must make use of direct quotations and in-text citations to support your argument.
MLA formatting: Essays must follow MLA formatting style guidelines. Failure to do so will result in lost marks.
