Background/things to consider: Work-life balance was once all the rage in terms of desired working/familial conditions for adults. This changed rapidly, however, as technology shifted, and continues to shift in this post-pandemic era. Many theorists suggest that work-life balance is a thing of the past and we must focus instead on work-life integration. After reading Chapter 11, take a look at the following blog that discusses work-life integration during COVID and then take a look at the summary of a recent colloquia (talk) at the Yale School of Management. Then, answer the question for Chapter 11. Pundits from multiple disciplines have agreed that COVID shifted our way of life. Organizational Psychologists have been examining this more integrative approach for several years, but now this discussion has come to the forefront since we can’t really separate the two anymore. Once upon a time, folks would go to work for specified hours, clock out and go home. There was no work-related activity that went on at home. That has changed for many people with the advent of the smartphone and wifi, and has changed over time with each successive major technological development. . 1.This chapter lists a number of different possible solutions to work-family conflict. Explain at least one proposal that seems promising to you. Can you think of a reasonable solution to work-life integration to help individuals avoid burnout given how COVID changed the nature of work even in this post pandemic world, and is that approach available to any/all workers regardless of industry/job function?
