For this week’s assignment, you will prepare and submit the outline for your final assignment. To complete this assignment, follow the steps below, use the below outline template, and review the sample outline as well. The exercise aims to help you prepare for the final project, due by the end of week 6. Please make sure to check the course workbook attached file to understand the requirements for this project.
Step 1. Write a short introduction explaining your topic and what the controversy is regarding your topic. What are the different points of view that make it argumentative? Memo (or jot down) the different perspectives surrounding the topic and the problem you wish to address.
Step 2. Develop a working thesis. It is time to choose a side and support it! Develop a working thesis stating the position you wish to defend.
Step 3. Discover supporting points and choose your Top 5 Points. Your Top 5 Points should connect to the working thesis and be able to develop a discussion supporting the thesis.
Step 4. For each of the Top 5 Points, develop several supporting details. These details may include counterarguments that are naturally related to each point; rather than making the counterargument a major point.
Step 5. Now for each supporting detail, think about where you will need to bring in source materials to illustrate, create credibility, support your argument, and provide the details you need! Plan what you will use where and begin thinking about any additional research that remains.
Step 6. After all the points have been developed and filled in, write a short conclusion explaining the significance of the argument you are making.
Step 7. Integrate all the information and materials from the previous steps into an outline. Remember that for your final project, you will create a 10-12-page argumentative (or position) essay (not including the cover page and the reference pages) utilizing at least four selected peer-reviewed journal articles. For further instructions on the Final Project, please see Week 6 Final Project section. Your Final Project is due in Week 6. Course Workbook (1).docx
