In this week’s module we are taking it much, much easier.
Pick an application of light. There are lots of options. Some examples include:
Communication: radios, cell phones, wifi, remote controls, vision
Cooking: microwaves, incandescent “ovens”Links to an external site.
Imaging: Infrared (thermal) cameras, x-rays/CT scans, radar, lidar, telescopes
Power: nuclear power, the hulk
Once you have your topic, briefly research that example then you will reply here describing/ explaining it.
Most importantly list the wavelength range that your application uses.
This initial reply is worth 5 points and is due April 19, 2024.
Reply to at least one other student to discuss their example.Search around and find another use for light in or near the wavelength range that the original poster listed, and include it in the reply. For example if someone discussed radar systems I could respond explaining that short wave radio can exist in the same band of EM radiation, and that short wave radios are awesome because they can bounce off of the Earth’s atmosphere, resulting in communications reaching far around the globe.
