Paper Topic: Sin Taxes
Term paper guidelines. The term paper should be a scholarly exploration of a pre-approved topic within the strategy domain. The term paper may be either conceptual or empirical. A suggested target length for the paper is 8-12 pages (double spaced, 12-point font) (there are no maximum pages limit).
Please follow the Academy of Management Review’s Style Guide for Authors (published in each January issue, also at http://www.aom.pace.edu/amr/style.htm).
This paper should follow a traditional format for a research paper, including a literature review, current situation, and conclusions. Students have an open-ended range of topics to choose from, but it is suggested they choose a topic early and consult with the instructor about its applicability.
The research project requires the following components:
Introduction
A comprehensive but concise discussion of the public finance literature in the area of interest;
Identifying the current situation (you can include history or dynamic of taxes) or analysis of international finance on this topic;
Analysis of problems or analysis of negative and positive consequences
Conclusions with policy implications.
