Conducting a school safety audit will help identify areas of concern as well as possible solutions. Discussing these concerns and possible remedies with administrative colleagues, you will learn about other perspectives on these issues and gain further professional insight.

Use the “Safety Audit Checklist” to complete an audit of your field experience site. Highlight your top 2-3 safety concerns and discuss these areas with your principal mentor.
Use any remaining field experience hours to observe and/or assist the principal mentor in tasks not related to working with students.
Summarize your field experience in 250-500 words including:
Your top 2-3 areas of concern, based on the results of the safety audit.
Your ideas for feasible solutions to these concerns.
Your perspective on how these concerns relate to the school vision and mission and meet student needs.
Your principal mentor’s perspective on the problems and solutions.
A brief reflection, incorporating PSEL Standard 5 of how this experience will affect your future professional practice.
