This assignment is designed to deepen your understanding of the epidemiological
This assignment is designed to deepen your understanding of the epidemiological aspects of a specific health condition. you may choose a specific/related phenomenon. Ideally you will be able to use and regularly update the epidemiology of your topic in a concise way. You will research and synthesize data into a comprehensive epidemiology table, which will help you visualize and analyze the distribution, determinants, and control of the chosen health condition within a population.
Assignment Details:
Selection of Topic: Choose a health condition of interest, which can be a disease, a health behavior, or a health-related event. The condition should be relevant to your project, public health and/or clinical practice and have sufficient data available for analysis.
Research: Conduct thorough research to gather epidemiological data on your chosen health condition/exposure. Your sources should include peer-reviewed journals, government health statistics, World Health Organization publications, and other reputable sources of epidemiological data.
Table Creation: Create a table that includes the following information:
Incidence and Prevalence Rates: Provide recent statistics on how common the condition is, both in terms of new cases (incidence) and total cases (prevalence) in the population.
Demographics: Describe how the condition affects different groups within the population, such as age, sex, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status.
Risk Factors: List major risk factors associated with the condition, distinguishing between modifiable and non-modifiable factors.
Geographical Distribution: Show the distribution of the condition across different regions or countries, highlighting any notable patterns.
Trends Over Time: Include data on how the incidence or prevalence has changed over time.
Prevention and Control Measures: Discuss existing strategies for prevention and control of the condition.
Submission Requirements:
Format: The table should be clear, well-organized, and easy to read. Use appropriate headings and subheadings.
Documentation of Sources: Provide a reference list for all data sources used in creating your table. Use APA style for citations.
Length: There is no minimum or maximum length, but the table should comprehensively cover the required elements.
Grading Criteria:
Accuracy of Information: All data presented must be accurate and supported by your sources.
Comprehensiveness: The table should provide a useful and easy to update overview of the epidemiology of the condition, covering all required aspects.
Clarity and Organization: The table should be well-structured, making it easy for readers to understand the presented data.
Quality of Sources: Use credible and up-to-date sources for your data. You will NOT be successful
