This final assignment brings together key skills that you have developed throughout the course that you will use in the social studies classroom. It is your opportunity to put theory into practice by designing 4 lessons that engage students in a standards’-aligned unit. Create a 1-week social studies and literacy-integrated unit plan in which you incorporate your state’s content standards for an identified grade level and ISTE Standards for Educators. To create your integrated unit plan, complete the following: Write a half-page unit introduction that explains how the unit integrates social studies and literacy elements, identifies the unit’s content and ISTE standards that will be addressed, and provides justification for why this is an elementary grade-level appropriate unit of study. Use the Lesson Plan Template to create 4 individual lesson plans for your integrated unit. Ensure that your completed unit plan does the following: Aligns with state content and ISTE Standards Develops students’ critical thinking skills Includes the use of primary and secondary sources Includes quality trade book literature in at least one lesson Includes at least 2 different writing activities that enhance or reinforce student learning and understanding Includes activities that facilitate an active learning environment Uses digital tools and resources to meet the needs of diverse learners Include technology promoting student learning in at least 2 lessons and assessments. Includes a formative assessment for each lesson The formative assessments must vary in delivery and 2 must assess both content and technology standards. Includes a summative assessment for the unit Provides an explanation of how data can be used to enhance future learning
