What is a Curriculum Summary?
Imagine, for example, that an employer asked you to describe in some detail which classes you took that helped to shape your intellectual identity. You wouldn’t want to respond that you took “some classes” and “liked Professor Jones; he was funny.” Those vague answers suggest that you haven’t given much thought to the ways that your classes have influenced your thinking and interests, and have added to your knowledge and skills.
Summaries of your coursework can be useful in building a resume and in preparing for an interview. When job candidates have educational experience but not much employment experience, sharing details about educational experience can help show job preparedness to prospective employers.
For this assignment, I want you to research yourself. Conduct some research into your own intellectual history. If I were asked to write a curriculum section, I couldn’t do it without —
looking at my transcriipt, and deciding which classes to include;
searching through my old email messages and computer files for papers I wrote, drafts, notes between me and my friends when we worked together on a project etc., for the classes I select for inclusion in my curriculum section;
I might also contact support staff in the department where I took an important course to ask for a copy of the syllabus. And that part of the syllabus that no one ever reads — “this course will teach you to…” — I would put that into my own words and include it in the curriculum summary;
I might also look at the course catalogue for the year I took the course to see how it’s described there.
-I have attached examples in attachment for you to understand assignment requirement.
