Before you start assessing and diagnosing health concerns, you need to first learn how to obtain a health history. Remember from your readings there are two main types of health histories, comprehensive and focused. Comprehensive histories are often done when a patient is establishing care with a provider. It can be done on hospital admissions as well. In this assignment you will obtain and document a comprehensive health history of a person of your choosing. If your patient is previously healthy without significant medical history, you should pretend they have a minor acute medical problem you can write up in the HPI.
Assignment InstructionsUsing Table 1-1 on pages 34-39 in your text as an example, submit a comprehensive health history write-up of a patient of your choosing. If your chosen patient does not have an acute complaint, then simulate a complaint to write up in the HPI section. For example, the patient could have a sore throat or cough.
