As I explained in my lecture video, core is essential to the product offering, while value-added is supplemental.
For example, in car industry, the automobile itself can be considered the core purchase, while financing, service plans, or friendly staff might be considered as the value-added supplemental services.
Core Offerings represent the fundamental components of a product or service, fulfilling the primary needs or functions for which customers make a purchase.
Value-Added Offerings, on the other hand, go beyond the core offering to provide additional features, benefits, or services. These are aimed at enhancing the customer experience and distinguishing a product or service from competitors.
Here are some examples to illustrate value-added offerings:
Consider a smartphone that offers features like a high-resolution camera, facial recognition, or augmented reality apps. These are value-added features.
In a restaurant, value-added offerings could include complimentary Wi-Fi, live music, or a loyalty rewards program, enhancing the dining experience.
Then, what are Texas A&M University-CT’s core and value-added offerings?
What about Hilton?
What about State Farm?
