Everybody’s been on edge since the security breach at Riverside Community Health Center. One click, really? It just took one innocent click to cause this big of a breach. But it is not all about the money; it’s about breaking the trust of our patients and dealing with the legal fallouts. With how valuable patient information is on the black market, the threat of identity theft is very real.
We have to rush to patch this breach, follow the right procedures, and tighten up our cybersecurity so that things like this do not happen again. According to Abdelhamid, 2020, phishing attacks are getting sneakier all the time; hence we have to be extra careful, especially in health care, where we deal with sensitive data. The key is how we go about teaching the staff to recognize and avoid these scams and keep everything safe and secure. Citation
