For today’s discussion, provide TWO paragraphs, one of each character you followed, and explain how film setting, costume, or other scene elements added to (or took away from) the character portrayals in the book. In the book, Willy Wonka is excessive and non-sensical. For instance, he is constantly talking about nonsense things and commenting on everything that happens (pg. 30). This gives the sense that Wonka is “crazy”. However, the film take these traits and makes him seem eccentric and brilliant, rather than crazy. For instance, he still talks a lot, but the added musical element and song “Pure Imagination” makes him seem like a misunderstood dreamer. His costume also helps with this, as he is dressed in purples, oranges, and greys – colors which are eccentric, but not necessarily crazy.NOTE: it’s really important to read the mentioned chapters, thank you
