Overview
During your virtual group counseling experience, you had the opportunity to encounter the group process as a member and facilitator. Throughout Weeks 4–10, you have been writing your weekly process journal entries, providing a detailed reflection of the group process. In this assignment, you will submit those journal entries.
Journal entries should not include identifying information of group members and are not intended to share personal content or issues within the group. The intention of the process journal is for learners to gain greater self-awareness and reflection of the group process.
Instructions
In each weekly entry, learners are to focus on the group process, therapeutic factors, and dynamics, considering and citing the course readings and required materials. Learners will address the following in each of the six entries:
If participating, describe your experience as a group participant, and how this experience related to the group process.
If facilitating, describe the experience of becoming a group facilitator and the group leadership and interpersonal skills that were brought to light as strengths and areas for growth.
Use scholarly support to detail how course readings and content (citing 2–3 references) can be applied to what was experienced in this group session. Specifically, identify the group processes that were observed.
Determine your level of engagement in the group on a scale of 1 (disengaged) to 5 (highly engaged). What influenced this level of engagement?
Identify how this week’s session contributed toward greater self-awareness, including awareness of personal needs, values, strengths, challenges, feelings, and motivations that impact yourself and group members.
Evaluate the multicultural considerations in the group session. Discuss how the group dynamic was impacted by issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness. Reflect on how you, as a group participant or facilitator, considered and incorporated multicultural awareness and sensitivity in your interactions with others.
Evaluate the legal and ethical considerations in the group session. Describe any ethical dilemmas that arose or could potentially occur across the various stages of the group process, and how they were or would be addressed.
