Part 1 set up a math task and assessment that requires students to be actively engaged in purposeful problem solving to understand the concept of place value or number sense. Prior to starting this assignment, review pages 14–17 in Van de Walle (2017b). Locate your state standards. Include the place value or number sense standards that are aligned to the grade-level placement for your field study. Create a mathematical task that incorporates patterns and problem solving. The task should include a visual to support student learning. Example: Use the digits 2, 3, and 6. The one and tens place add up to 5. The hundreds place is 3 more than the tens place. What’s my number? Develop a rubric or a checklist that can be used to check students’ understanding during the instructional task. This is a formative assessment to State standards( Georgia ) 3rd grade ————————————————————————— Observe your field-placement teacher presenting a science lesson. Read the host teacher’s lesson plan. Meet with your host teacher, and discuss how your host teacher prepares for: Safety STEM in the classroom Standards ( Georgia) 3rd grade Objectives Anticipatory set Engagement Differentiation Technology and/or engineering Reading, reading comprehension, and writing Integration of other subjects (beyond English-Language Arts [ELA]) Inquiry Assessments Write an analysis and incorporate specific examples and evidence from your resources in your analysis. Include the following: Share at least one example of specific evidence for at least four elements (listed above) that you observed in the lesson. Identify at least two missing element(s) from the list above. Either explain what you would do to incorporate it, or explain why the element(s) was(were) not needed in the lesson. Suggest a science-related trade book that would enhance the lesson, and explain why you chose that book. What specific example of integration would you suggest adding to the lesson? Submit by Day 7 of Week 1 a 2– to 3–page paper of the analysis. Be sure to support your assertions with research, and use APA formatting.
