This is an examination and analysis of the primary sources, and the primary sources only, so do not use information from anything other than the primary source itself, this includes descriiptions of the source or material from the textbook, since this may lead to ideas and points that are not in the primary sources. Have an intro, a body, a conclusion. Have a thesis statement, and use the sources and your analysis to prove your point, your thesis. The essay is about the primary sources and what they say, so students must use examples and quotes from the primary sources to formulate and support their points, and must explain how the evidence from the primary sources connects to an argument which directly addresses the assignment prompt. Excessive or large quotes are not acceptable. Find only that part of the quote that gets to your point and use that. No need for any source citations. No cover page or bibliography is needed. Put your name on it.
