Submit a 1-2 page reflection on how directors and production designers create worlds on film. Additionally, include an abstract in your reflection.
The movie is Michel Gondry’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004).
Available on The Criterion Channel.
Choose two scenes from the movie.
This questions should help frame your response. You don’t have to answer all of them.
How does production design function in the two scenes you’ve chosen — do the films use matte paintings, miniatures, or CGI, and, if so, how?? Does it affect your ideas about screen reality?
How do sets contribute to the power of the scenes you chose?
Do not use terms like “personally,” “I think,” “I feel.” Treat reflections as if they were very short essays. You’re not writing a review of these films, therefore do not share how these films impressed you; don’t refer to the “gorgeous cinematography” or “incredible acting.” Avoid a casual, chatty, gossipy tone.
You should also include characters’ names when talking about the chosen scenes, so it doesn’t sound like AI written reflection.
Consult the student example I have attached.
