The objective of this assignment is to evaluate whether you can make an argument
The objective of this assignment is to evaluate whether you can make an argument as to whether the way a text is framed is propaganda, according to Noam Chomsky’s definition of it in Media Control: The Spectacular Achievements of Propaganda. If you wish, you can also discuss whether this was a good or bad use of propaganda.
To do this, I am asking you to determine whether the framing in the Joint Address to Congress by President Bush, is propaganda according to Chomsky’s definition of it. To do this you need to analyze the frames in the text using Lakoff and then use Chomsky to evaluate the frames.
For this paper, I’d like you to use only sources from class (Media Control: The Spectacular Achievement of Propaganda, & Joint Address to Congress by Bush, & Layoff). Write 1100 words organized into well-structured paragraphs, and follow either APA in-text citation guidelines. To complete this assignment, you must reference the following:
· Lakoff,
· Chomsky,
· Michael Moore or George Bush.
