Things to know:
The variables MomIntersubjectivity and DadIntersubjectivity record the scores for moms and dads as they are playing separately with their 4-year old children using a set of random toys. Intersubjectivity refers to the idea that the parent and child are on the same page while playing, working together to complete a task.
The variable DadChallenging record the scores for dads as they are playing with their 4-year old children using a random set of toys. Challenging play refers to the idea that parents challenge their children to think outside the box with novel toys, and teach them new ways of using familiar toys.
Research Question 1: do moms and dads differ in their level of Intersubjectivity during free play with their 4-year old children?
Research Question 2: do dads differ in their level of intersubjectivity and challenging play during free play with their 3-year old children?

Select the variables MomIntersubjectivity and DadIntersubjectivity. Use SPSS to compute the Means for moms and dads.
Compare the means of each variable to make a preliminary conclusion about what you expect to find regarding the difference between moms and dads.
Write a narrative hypothesis regarding the difference that you expect to find between moms and dads.
Write the null and alternative hypotheses in statistical format.
What is the statistical test that is appropriate for this hypothesis? Explain why.
Choose an alpha or significance level.
Compute the test statistic using SPSS. You MUST show the entire table of results. Note: To do this t-test, you will select MomDadIntersubjectivity as your Test Variable, and ParentGender as your Grouping Variable. 1 = Mom; 2 = Dad.
Based on the significance level, will you reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis? Explain why you made this decision.
Based on your decision above, should we compute the effect size? Explain why.
Interpret/Explain your results in plain English.

Compare the means of each variable to make a preliminary conclusion about what you expect to find regarding the difference between dads’ intersubjective and challenging play.
Write a narrative hypothesis regarding the difference that you expect to find.
Write the null and alternative hypotheses in statistical format.
