Hello my name is Ohanis Molina and today we’re going to be talking about a South African dish that is one of the 15 traditional dishes in South africa. This dish is called Gatsby, and it’s a huge foot long sandwich and a very popular street food item in South Africa. The roll is overflowing with delicate fries absorbed vinegar, egg, spiced steak, frankfurter, and peri-peri.
Just by how the dish is made the sound of the ingredients are amazing and notice how the steak has the word “spiced”. What they do to their steak is they would throw ton’s of seasoning and herbs and make the steak taste irresistible. Now maybe some people have not read this book that is called “Eating Words” but if people have read the book they would know in page 380 Gary Synder he talks about how juicy and immaculate eating steak is.To people who like steak he really goes into details by saying “Full-color photo of standing Hereford stud above the very booth his bloody sliced muscle is served in; rare” I’m just amazed and wowed upon how they describe on serving the steak. How the steak is rare and as they slice through the steak you can just feel and taste the juices pouring out as they slice peace by peace seeing the muscle describing every bit of detail. When you also think about how steak is served that’s how everybody eats there steak. They’ll slice steaks or even eat the whole thing one by one. The dish Gatsby can be made in any way anyone like’s. Gatsby is such an amazing food with all its vegetables, steak, seasonings and most importantly there bread. I cannot say how amazing their bread’s are how fluffy and buttery and has a nice crunch when a person bites into the dough. Not to mention that they are ginormous in how they make their sandwiches over there.
