Up to the Challenge
Teri has seen Sarah grow as an HRM professional. Teri sees that Sarah has a firm understanding of data and predictive analytics and feels very comfortable giving Sarah more responsibility. She asks her to review data in a number of areas and provide preliminary recommendations. Sarah is up to the challenge.According to Pease (2015), the continuum of analytics can be organized as descriptive, predictive, and transformative. Descriptive analysis concerns what has already happened or is happening. This is the data/metrics presented in dashboards. Predictive analysis involves turning the data into actionable information. Transformative analysis means recommending decisions to benefit the organization. Pease (2015) provides the specific development for moving from dashboards and scorecards to benchmarks, and identifying correlations, isolation, and causation to predictive analysis, ultimately leading to what our text refers to as optimization (see fig. 4.1).
