Identifying the Existence of Hygiene and Motivator Factors [WLO: 1] [CLOs: 1, 2]
This discussion will help with your understanding and application of Herzberg’s needs-based theory. Herzberg’s states that there are two sets of follower needs and that work conditions can affect both sets of needs. Motivator factors affect job satisfaction and hygiene factors affect job dissatisfaction. Herzberg’s further defines motivator factors as personal drivers, along with work environments that support psychological needs and foster follower satisfaction. Hygiene factors are work conditions that generate job dissatisfaction or a negative psychological state for the follower.
